Our time will come

‘Our Time Will Come’ follows an Austrian-Gambian couple in their early 30s for over a year as they venture a new start in Vienna after years of uncertainty and involuntary exile. Victoria wants to finally arrive here, work and lead a normal life. Siaka is looking for social recognition and is fighting against the shadows of his past as a rejected asylum seeker. They both want to have a child together. At the same time, Siaka is under pressure from his family of origin; he longs to return to Gambia and yet cannot go back. Victoria and Siaka counter the conflicts that inevitably arise from their different cultural and social backgrounds with their constant search for closeness and connection, for compromises and shared dreams.

‘Our Time Will Come’ is the portrait of a special love for which there are no role models.
