Ever since I was a child I have always wondered what it would be like to be the last person on earth. Walking down the main boulevard of my hometown, everything completely quiet except for the sound of my own footsteps resonating between its empty buildings. Perhaps to some, this image of complete emptiness might evoke feelings of sadness or even horror, but to me it has always had a haunting beauty to it, which forms the basis of this film.

Born in 1977 in Luxembourg, Max Jacoby graduated from the London International Film School in 2000. He made several short films, the last of which, Butterflies, won among others the Prix UPI for Best European Short Film at the 2005 Venice Film Festival.
