ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Gastón Solnicki was born in Buenos Aires in 1978. He studied at ICP and at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he received his BFA in Film. He directed the films Süden (2008); and Papirosen (2011), which premiered in Locarno. It was awarded Best Film in BAFICI, and was a New York Times critic's pick.
Kékszakállú (2016) had its world premiere in Venice- Orizzonti, where it won the FIPRESCI international critic’s award and the Bisato d’Oro; following through with festivals such as Toronto, NYFF and Viennale. It was selected as one of the ten best films of 2016 by Artforum.
In 2017, he had his first retrospective held at the New Horizons festival in Wroclaw. He is currently working on his new narrative feature, Electrocute.
